Role Overview

The Draftsman and Design Coordinator reports to the Design Lead and owns design documentation, drawing production, and project coordination across active interior fit-out projects.

The role requires an experienced design professional who can manage multiple workstreams independently and connect design requirements with project delivery.

Design Documentation and Deliverables

  • Prepare, update, and organize design drawings, presentations, and specifications.
  • Maintain version-controlled drawing registers and document management systems.
  • Produce CAD drawings, mood boards, material schedules, and finish specifications.
  • Prepare design packages for client presentations and internal design reviews.
  • Coordinate drawing submissions and track revision cycles.

Project Coordination

  • Coordinate between the Design Lead, Project Manager, and site teams to communicate design intent.
  • Attend occasional site visits to verify implementation and document progress.
  • Track RFIs and design-related queries from site teams.
  • Maintain meeting notes, design decision logs, and action trackers.
  • Liaise with suppliers, FF&E vendors, and subcontractors for samples, technical data, and quotations.

Materials and FF&E

  • Source, compare, and track materials, finishes, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Maintain material libraries and physical sample archives.
  • Coordinate sample submissions and approvals with clients and the Design Lead.
  • Track procurement timelines and flag risks or delays.

Administrative Support

  • Maintain organized digital and physical project folders.
  • Assist with reports, handover documentation, and project close-out files.
  • Support scheduling, correspondence, and day-to-day team operations.
  • Prepare client-facing documents to company brand and quality standards.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited university.
  • Seven to ten years of experience, including at least five years in interior fit-out or design coordination.
  • AutoCAD proficiency is essential.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, BOQs, and technical documents.
  • Ability to resolve discrepancies and lead design meetings through approval closure.
  • Clear English communication skills; Arabic is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, collaboration, initiative, resilience, and adaptability.
