Job Summary
The DMCA Specialist is responsible for identifying, reporting, and managing intellectual property infringements across digital platforms.
This role focuses on protecting brand assets, enforcing copyright compliance, and coordinating with hosting providers, registrars, and third-party platforms to ensure timely takedown of unauthorized or infringing content.
The specialist will also support ongoing brand protection strategies and maintain accurate reporting of enforcement actions.
Key Accountabilities And Responsibilities
- Monitor websites, search engines, social media, and marketplaces for copyright and trademark infringements.
- Identify phishing, impersonation, and unauthorized use of brand assets.
- Prepare and submit DMCA takedown notices to hosting providers, domain registrars, CDNs, and platforms (e.g., Google, Cloudflare, social networks).
- Track and manage takedown requests, ensuring timely follow-ups and resolutions.
- Maintain records of infringement cases, actions taken, and outcomes for reporting and audit purposes.
- Analyze trends in infringement activities and recommend proactive mitigation strategies.
- Assist in domain dispute processes and abuse complaint handling.
- Automate and optimize detection and reporting workflows were applicable.
- Generate periodic reports on enforcement performance and risk exposure.
Requirements And Skills
- Strong understanding of DMCA processes, copyright laws, and online enforcement mechanisms.
- Familiarity with domain registrars, hosting providers, and CDN platforms.
- Experience with abuse reporting systems (e.g., WHOIS complaints, registrar abuse desks, Google removal tools).
- Knowledge of phishing detection, brand impersonation, and online fraud patterns.
- Ability to investigate and analyze web content, DNS records, and hosting infrastructure.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Basic technical knowledge (HTML, DNS, IP, hosting, proxies) is a plus.
- Experience with automation tools, scripting, or web scraping (e.g., Puppeteer) is an advantage.
- Excellent written communication skills for drafting professional complaints and reports.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks effectively.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field (preferred)
Experience
- 1–3+ years of experience in DMCA enforcement, brand protection, trust & safety, or cybersecurity operations.
- Experience working with legal compliance, abuse handling, or digital rights management is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in online platforms, iGaming, or digital media industries is a plus.
