Job Summary
The District Manager (Recon) is responsible for achieving sales objectives, serving current customers, growing market share, and developing new business in an assigned geographic area.
The role mentors new Sales Colleagues and Clinical Support Representatives and provides a development pathway toward sales management.
The position requires significant time in operating theatre environments and coordination with customers and internal departments.
Current Business Support
- Contact current and potential customers and respond to resulting requests.
- Conduct product in-servicing and workshops.
- Maintain relationships with key accounts and leverage existing business.
- Manage primary and secondary sales for the designated territory and key accounts.
Business Growth and Conversion
- Build relationships with decision makers using competitor products in targeted geographic and product areas.
- Present proposals and convert customers to Zimmer Biomet products.
- Prepare quotations and tender submissions and negotiate prices within management guidelines.
Reporting and Coordination
- Complete monthly, expense, and other reports requested by sales management.
- Prepare ad hoc reports as required.
- Liaise with distributors, hospitals, sales management, and finance on customer service, procurement, and receivables.
Learning and Development
- Attend relevant workshops and complete learning assessment exercises where required.
- Study clinical articles and data to build knowledge and advise customers and staff.
- Mentor new Sales Colleagues and Clinical Support Representatives in the designated area.
Background and Experience
- Science graduate with 3–7 years of orthopedic experience.
- Previous medical device or pharmaceutical sales experience in orthopedics, capital equipment, or diagnostics.
- Demonstrated successful selling to the medical profession.
- B.Pharma, business, marketing, or paramedical qualifications are preferred.
Competencies
- Working-level proficiency in the local language, English, or Hindi.
- Product and technical knowledge, commercial acumen, result orientation, communication, interpersonal skills, and tenacity.
- Understanding of operating theatre environments and ability to travel approximately 90% of the time.
