Role Overview
Lead AbbVie's Illinois state government affairs function and serve as the company's representative across state and local policy environments.
Develop and execute lobbying and advocacy strategies that support business objectives, medical innovation, patient access, and long-term growth.
Build relationships with public officials, business partners, community stakeholders, associations, coalitions, and external alliances.
Responsibilities
- Represent AbbVie with Illinois state and local government, economic development, and community stakeholders.
- Set strategies for lobbying and advocacy involving state legislation, regulations, policymakers, regulators, third-party groups, and coalitions.
- Assess political, legislative, and regulatory developments and recommend actions affecting AbbVie's interests.
- Support state and local site selection initiatives, regional engagement, investment, and expansion.
- Collaborate with federal government affairs, strategic alliances, policy, commercial, legal, market access, and corporate affairs teams.
- Lead trade association task forces and coalitions and represent AbbVie at state legislative and political events.
- Hire and manage regional outside consultants and oversee their objectives and execution.
- Manage the regional government affairs budget and ensure lobbying and political giving compliance.
