The Diagnostic Imaging Assistant reports directly to the Assistant Clinic Manager or the Clinic Manager
Greets patients in reception area in a warm, respectful manner and attends to every detail of patient comfort.
Ensures incoming patients are admitted for examinations in a timely fashion.
Confirms all patient information is correct and accurate.
Receives all requisitions and ensures that the information provided is complete and correct.
Advises technologist in appropriate area of any patient concerns upon check in.
Receives monies from patients paying for exams.
Answers all telephone calls promptly, screens calls, answers inquiries, relays messages, and refers callers to appropriate person or area.
Telephone calls should be answered with the following script: “Good morning/good afternoon, Mayfair Diagnostics (insert clinic location), (name) speaking, “how may I help you”.
Books patients for examinations requested on the provided requisition
Maintains patient confidentiality as per the Health Information Act (HIA), Health Information Protection Act (HIPA), and this practice’s privacy policies.
Chaperones exams for male technologists during Endo-Vaginal and Breast examinations.
Escorts and helps navigate patients to their appointment(s) within the clinic.
Appropriately changes patients into gowns for modality specific exams.
Prints day schedule at the end of each day for the next day’s appointments per modality and distributes to the appropriate areas.
Assists with trial banking activities and as required, supports the preparation of deposits for monies received in the clinic, in accordance with established procedures.

Maintains clinic supply stock, accepts/notifies modalities of deliveries, and unloads supplies.
Orders supplies from Andau and Grand and Toy as required.
Keeps all rooms stocked with necessary supplies and gowns.
Puts clean laundry away, checks laundry baskets for dirty laundry and empties as needed.
Checks washrooms for paper cups, soap, toilet paper, paper towel, and re-stocks as needed.
Keeps waiting room tidy, and prevents tripping hazards
Keeps all areas clean of garbage.
Complies with all company rules, regulations, policies and procedures in accordance with the Policy and Procedure Manual, Quality Management System Manual, Privacy Policy and Procedures Manuals, and the Employee Policy Manual.
Performs other related duties as required.
Can navigate between multiple computer programs simultaneously.
Investigating requisitions to ensure accurate bookings.
Can consistently apply updated workflows and booking changes as communicated.
Additional responsibilities:
Provide support as required for accreditation processes with the applicable provincial college (CPSA, CPSS).
Provide support for Occupational Health and Safety processes as required.
Any other duties, as assigned, to provide support for the betterment of the organization, clinic or modality.
Support the onboarding, training, and ongoing upskilling of new hires and existing clinical staff to ensure consistent, high-quality practice.
Actively participating in making the workplace safe for themselves and others through cooperation and awareness, as required by policies and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
All employees including DIA’s must maintain compliance with the policies and procedures and protocols in the Employee Policy Manual, the Policy and Procedures manual as well as the Quality Management Systems (QMS) manual. The DIA may also be assigned any other duties as necessary to support the patient service delivery model.
Certification as a Health Information Office Assistant, Unit Clerk, or Medical Office Assistant required.
Minimum of 2 years of relatable experience delivering exceptional customer service in a face-to-face environment.
Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy required.
Strong ability to multi-task with a knack for self-managing and prioritizing based on clinic needs
Ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize with changing workloads and schedule variances.
Computer/keyboarding skills required, typing skills 45 wpm or better required.
Good interpersonal and effective communication skills (verbal, written, and oral).
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service to all patients.
Focuses towards working in a team environment with an upbeat attitude, with the willingness to learn and work professionally to support both internal and external stakeholders.
Requires use of the phone, computer, and sitting for extended periods of time.
Normal movements of twisting, bending, reaching, and using hands and arms in completing paperwork and administrative tasks.
May be required to lift items up to 3 kilograms.
Must be prepared to work flexible hours as required to complete duties during non-business hours.
Travel to other clinics within Calgary and surrounding areas will be required.
