Job Summary
Design, implement, and migrate an infrastructure automation platform focused on VMware automation.
Use vCenter VM provisioning with vRealize Automation and SaltStack while modernizing the platform with Terraform and Ansible.
Apply strong Linux and Windows administration skills and modern DevOps tooling knowledge.
Infrastructure Automation
- Automate VM provisioning on VMware vCenter using vRealize Automation integrated with SaltStack.
- Design and maintain scalable, reusable automation workflows for VM lifecycle management.
- Integrate OS-level configuration and post-provisioning tasks using Salt, Ansible, or similar tools.
Migration and Modernization
- Assess and support existing vRA-based automation and workflows.
- Lead migration from vRA to Terraform and Ansible with minimal service disruption.
- Refactor legacy blueprints into Infrastructure as Code using Terraform modules.
- Implement Ansible playbooks for configuration management and application deployment.
OS Administration and Automation
- Administer RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, and Windows Server environments.
- Automate OS hardening, patching, user management, and system configuration.
- Troubleshoot OS-level, network, and performance issues.
VMware and Platform Engineering
- Work hands-on with VMware vCenter, ESXi, clusters, datastores, and networking.
- Apply knowledge of VMware automation APIs and integrations.
- Collaborate with virtualization, networking, and security teams.
DevOps and Tooling
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and configuration code.
- Use Git and enforce version-control best practices.
- Monitor, log, and optimize automation workflows.
Working Experience
- 5–8+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure automation, or cloud engineering.
Job Specification
- VMware vCenter and vRealize Automation.
- SaltStack automation.
- Terraform, with VMware providers preferred.
- Ansible configuration management.
- Linux and Windows OS administration.
- Infrastructure as Code practices.
- Git, GitHub, or GitLab.
- CI/CD tools including GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
- Python, Bash, PowerShell, or JavaScript scripting.
- Monitoring with Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK.
