Role Overview

Location and Level

• The position is hybrid in downtown Montreal.
• The role level is senior.

Required Qualifications

• DEC or university degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent experience.
• At least 8 years of software development experience and at least 5 years developing Java desktop applications.
• Excellent Java proficiency and experience maintaining and evolving complex software products.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical leadership, collaboration, and self-directed working skills.
• French communication skills are required in spoken and written form.
• Knowledge of application security, secure coding principles, and the OWASP Top 10 is required.

Core Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java desktop applications critical to business operations.
• Participate in architecture decisions and product technology evolution.
• Use AI development tools and agentic workflows to improve development productivity and software quality.
• Design intuitive, modern, high-performance user interfaces and optimize stability, memory usage, and performance.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, and Support teams and integrate applications with APIs, databases, and external services.
• Contribute to test automation, deployment automation, quality assurance, and all phases of the Agile software lifecycle.

Technology Knowledge

• Java 17/21, Swing, REST APIs, Docker, GitHub Copilot Agent Mode, Model Context Protocol, AI coding assistants, agentic workflows, and Keycloak.
• GitHub Enterprise, Maven, SonarQube, Jira, Confluence, Slack, and Microsoft Teams.

Preferred Assets

• Experience with Compose Multiplatform using Kotlin declarative code, JavaFX, or Java Spring Boot microservices.
• Experience developing cross-platform applications for Windows, Linux, and macOS.
• Knowledge of MVVM, MVC, or Clean Architecture patterns and experience with rich client applications.
• Experience with TCP/IP, WebSocket, REST communications, JVM profiling, and desktop deployment or packaging.
