DCEO Principal Engineer, Infrastructure Operations

Role Overview

Engineering and Operations

• Serve as the site SME and point of contact for mission-critical facilities and manage day-to-day hands-on operations and vendor activities.
• Support capacity changes, construction work, planned maintenance, emergency changes, and other AWS infrastructure priorities.
• Review designs and projects from an operations perspective to mitigate safety, security, and availability risks.
• Inspect and validate requirements and deliverables for builds and services.

Incident and Process Management

• Prepare disaster countermeasures, emergency response procedures, staff training, and operational tools.
• Respond to high-severity incidents as the operations owner, troubleshoot issues, provide updates, and complete root cause analysis.
• Review operational metrics, establish procedures, and define paths to green for performance recovery.
• Identify single points of failure and vulnerabilities and coordinate remediation or mitigation plans.
• Represent India in global forums and support major technical changes with Design and Field Engineering.

Testing and Improvement

• Provide input to design and construction and incorporate operational feedback during the building phase.
• Create and execute documentation and training materials for users and operations teams.
• Test new builds and services, including user acceptance testing and post-test script review.
• Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence using team metrics and KPIs.
• Support new product implementation through game days and cluster-wide training.

Team Leadership

• Develop team structures and document headcount requirements.
• Support interviews and hiring of bar-raising candidates.
• Build teams through delegation, development, training, direction, coaching, empowerment, and motivation.
• Own cluster-wide availability goals and compliance drills.

Basic Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required.
• Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production is required.
• Experience with MS Excel, Word, and Windows operating systems is required.
• Experience with power management and power monitoring systems is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure is preferred.
• Knowledge of critical data center equipment, engineering documentation, electrical diagrams, and standard operating procedures is preferred.
• Knowledge of Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA building codes and regulations is preferred.
• Data Center Engineering Operations experience and deep knowledge of electrical and mechanical infrastructure are preferred.
• Experience interpreting construction specifications and drawings across engineering domains is preferred.
