The Opportunity

DeepLight AI is seeking a Data Engineer with strong AWS and banking-sector experience to join its core engineering squad in the UAE.

The role focuses on scalable Lakehouse data solutions for enterprise analytics and advanced machine learning models.

The position combines big data, cloud architecture, MLOps, banking security, ACID compliance, and data governance.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and optimize Databricks and Delta Lake Lakehouse architectures on AWS.
  • Build batch and real-time ETL/ELT pipelines using PySpark, Apache Kafka, and SQL for financial datasets.
  • Optimize AWS data services including S3, Redshift, EMR, Athena, and Glue for performance, storage efficiency, latency, and cloud cost.
  • Support feature engineering, experiment tracking with MLflow, Docker and EKS workflows, and production deployment with AWS SageMaker.
  • Implement encryption, access controls, audit trails, data security, and governance for banking data sovereignty and privacy mandates.
  • Manage Terraform infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions or CodePipeline, and tested Python code.
  • Communicate technical decisions and advocate for data and AI solutions with cross-functional teams and client stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

  • Hands-on data engineering experience in banking, financial services, or fintech, including transactional datasets and regulatory compliance.
  • Deep command of AWS data services, distributed processing engines, Apache Spark or PySpark, and Apache Kafka.
  • Experience with Databricks and Delta Lake, data modeling, schema evolution, and ACID principles.
  • High proficiency in Python and SQL, plus practical Docker, Kubernetes EKS, Terraform, and Git experience.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills for technical and client-facing collaboration.
  • AWS Certified Data Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect, or Databricks Certified Data Engineer certification is advantageous.
  • Apache Flink, Spark Streaming, Airflow, or Prefect experience is advantageous.
