- Demonstrated expertise in Islamic art, history, and visual culture
- Strong record of scholarly research and publications related to Islamic art
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, budgets, and contracts
- Fluency in English required; Arabic proficiency highly desirable
- Willingness to travel internationally

Overview
- We are seeking a Curator of Islamic Art and Culture to join the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra).
- Ithra is a leading cultural institution dedicated to enriching lives through culture, creativity, knowledge, and learning.
- Your primary role is to develop, manage, and interpret Islamic art exhibitions, collections, and cultural initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the research, curation, content development, interpretation, and delivery of Islamic art exhibitions.
- Develop compelling exhibition narratives connecting historical Islamic collections with contemporary practices.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams across Ithra to plan and deliver exhibition projects and cultural programs.
- Manage content, educational vision, and programmatic plans for Islamic civilization galleries.
- Oversee growth, preservation, and stewardship of Islamic art collections, including securing long term loans.
- Assess Islamic art objects and historical architectural elements for collection management and exhibition development.
- Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with local and international museums and cultural institutions.
- Conduct scholarly research and develop publications, books, and exhibition catalogues.
- Develop educational programs, workshops, symposia, and public engagement initiatives.
- Conduct audience research to develop accessible and engaging exhibitions.
- Manage contracts and coordinate external designers, artisans, and consultants.
- Provide curatorial expertise and manage project budgets, schedules, and stakeholder engagement.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Islamic Art, Art History, Museum Studies, or related discipline; Master's or PhD preferred.
- 10 15 years of experience in Islamic art curation, museum management, or cultural heritage.
- At least 5 years managing major museum exhibitions, gallery development, or curatorial programs.
- Demonstrated expertise in Islamic art, history, visual culture, and cultural heritage.
- Experience curating Islamic art collections and managing museum collections.
- Experience establishing partnerships with local and international cultural institutions.
- Strong record of scholarly research and publications related to Islamic art.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, project budgets, and contracts.
- Strong communication, writing, and public speaking skills.
- Ability to engage diverse audiences through educational programming.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
- Fluency in English required; proficiency in Arabic or other relevant language highly desirable.
