Role Overview
Provides decontamination, testing, documentation, and distribution of reusable medical devices for direct patient care.
Works within a central sterile services department and follows established facility protocols.
Equipment Processing
- Receives, disassembles, cleans, inspects, and tests contaminated equipment.
- Operates and tests washer-disinfectors, driers, sterilizers, and other decontamination machinery.
- Performs quality checks for cleanliness and completeness before equipment distribution.
- Conducts daily validation tests and documents activities and results.
- Performs functionality tests on reusable medical devices and processes results for compliance, audit, and analysis.
Supplies and Records
- Issues sterile supplies and maintains holding stock levels in wards and departments.
- Receives and documents goods and equipment, checks delivery notes, and records non-conformances.
- Assists with restocking supplies and completes assigned clerical tasks.
Communication and Safety
- Communicates with colleagues and customers at all levels, including senior staff.
