Good Vision – you must be able to see vehicles, different colours (stoplights), children and signal indications from close and far distances.
Good Hearing – you must be able to communicate with children, motorists, parents and be able to hear vehicles approaching, honking, etc.
Physically fit – you must be able to climb, stretch, carry and lift items weighing approximately 4 lbs, stand, walk and twist for periods of up to 1.5 hours daily in all weather conditions.
Must be able to report for work at the designated crossing locations and times as scheduled.
As the nature of this position is to ensure the safety of children and pedestrians, Crossing Guards may need to be reassessed from time to time to ensure they are fit to perform the necessary duties.
Must be legally able to work in Canada.
