Cost Controller

Description & Requirements

• OPEX Budgeting and Forecasting: Support annual budgets and maintain rolling three-month forecasts, incorporating actuals, commitments, accruals, work activity and operational changes.
• Cost Control and Variance Management: Monitor expenditure against budgets and forecasts, identify variances, trends, cost pressures and optimisation opportunities, and provide clear commentary.
• Month-End and Accruals: Review transactions, open purchase orders, service entries and commitments to ensure accurate accruals, reversals and period-end cost recognition.
• Capital Project Journaling: Identify capital-related O&M costs, coordinate WBS journals with Finance Services, and reconcile resulting OPEX and capital positions.
• Cost Allocation and Coding: Review coding and allocations, identify misallocated expenditure and coordinate corrections to the appropriate cost centre, work order, project or account.
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Reconcile SAP and finance data and produce regular OPEX reports covering actuals, commitments, accruals, forecasts, budgets and variances.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Work with Operations, Maintenance, Procurement and Finance Services to validate expenditure, forecast assumptions, accruals and upcoming work.
• Experience in cost engineering or cost controller capacity
• Experience with SAP, Fieldglass, Prism and Power BI
• Effective communication and time-management skills
• Strong reporting and analytical skills, with the ability to manipulate complex data and conduct data-driven analysis.
• Proficiency in data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau or SQL
• Proven experience with Excel, including advanced functions such as pivot tables, and financial modelling
