Cook I

Performs a variety of cooking and re-thermalization duties in accordance with the approved menus, food production guidelines, standardized recipes, and department policies and procedures.

Assists in the receiving and storage of department supplies.

Maintains a high standard of sanitation and cleanliness in the Food Service Area in compliance with Provincial Public Health Regulations, Food Safe Standards and Provincial Long Term Care Accommodation Standards.

Performs other related duties.

High School Diploma is required.

Certificate in Food Safety is required.

Enrollment in a Journeyman Cook or Culinary Arts (cooking) program is an asset.

Must have the ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language and to follow written and oral directions.

Previous related mass quantity cooking experience in a health care setting or hospitality industry is preferred.
