Department Specific Responsibilities
- Lead the department of Urology with a focus line towards Umniya Men’s Health Institute, defining its service lines, clinical pathways, and patient experience standards.
- Develop and implement structured programs across men’s health domains including Male Fertility & Andrology, Testosterone & Hormonal Optimization, Sexual Health & Dysfunction, Longevity & Preventive Medicine, and Performance & Metabolic Wellness.
- Collaborate with the Medical Director and leadership team to define the department’s short- and long-term growth strategy.
- Establish clinical protocols, evidence-based guidelines, and standard operating procedures for all program areas.
- Identify and integrate best-in-class diagnostics, therapeutics, and technologies to support program delivery.
- Drive the department’s positioning as a regional center of excellence through academic collaboration, research, and thought leadership.
Clinical Andrology & Male Fertility (Ivf Setting)
- Lead male factor infertility evaluation including comprehensive semen analysis, sperm DNA fragmentation testing, hormonal profiling, and genetic screening.
- Perform and supervise surgical sperm retrieval procedures: TESA, TESE, Micro-TESE, PESA, and MESA.
- Provide microsurgical expertise including varicocelectomy, vasectomy reversal (vasovasostomy and vasoepididymostomy), and obstructive azoospermia correction.
- Work in close collaboration with the IVF clinical and embryology teams to coordinate male fertility management within ART cycles.
- Diagnose and manage azoospermia (obstructive and non-obstructive), oligospermia, asthenospermia, and related conditions.
- Develop male fertility screening and pre-conception counselling services for the IVF patient population.
- Men’s Health Programs – Longevity, Performance & Wellness:
- Design and lead a Testosterone & Hormonal Health Program covering evaluation, optimization, and long-term management of hypogonadism, andropause, and hormonal imbalances.
- Develop a Men’s Sexual Health Program addressing erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, Peyronie’s disease, low libido, and psychosexual components in coordination with relevant specialists.
- Create and oversee a Performance Optimization Program integrating lifestyle medicine, nutrition, exercise physiology, sleep health, and stress resilience for high-functioning individuals.
- Build a structured pathway for men seeking proactive health screening, early disease detection, and long-term health management.
- Explore and integrate regenerative medicine modalities (e.g., PRP, shockwave therapy) within evidence-based frameworks where applicable
General Urological & Clinical Responsibilities
- Manage assigned clinics as per the approved rota by the Medical Director and Operations Director, providing specialist urological care across a broad scope of conditions.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including history, physical examination, and targeted investigations; diagnose genitourinary disorders and design individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe and administer appropriate therapies, medications, and procedures; counsel patients on diagnosis, treatment options, and lifestyle recommendations.
- Admit and manage patients under personal care as indicated within approved clinical privileges.
- Refer patients to specialist colleagues where clinically appropriate; provide and receive consultations as requested.
- Monitor patient progress, re-evaluate and adapt treatment plans accordingly; ensure timely and complete documentation of all clinical encounters.
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous medical records; authenticate all entries with date, time, and employee ID.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within specifically granted privileges in accordance with qualifications, licensing, training, and experience.
- Approve discharge summaries, follow-up plans, and medical reports for patients under provided privileges and responsibility.
Leadership, Quality & Governance
- Direct and coordinate with nurses, clinical assistants, and allied health professionals within the department.
- Contribute to departmental and organizational policy development as part of continuous quality improvement.
- Ensure full compliance with all approved clinical and Insurance policies, procedures, protocols, clinical pathways, and regulatory guidelines.
- Serve on departmental and clinical committees as requested; attend emergency code training and responses as applicable and adherence to the OSHAD responsibilities.
- Participate in clinical audit, outcomes measurement, and quality improvement initiatives for all program areas.
- Mentor and develop junior medical staff and trainees within the facility when requested.
Required
- MBBS or equivalent primary medical qualification.
- Postgraduate specialization in Urology (MD, FRCS Urology, Board Certification, or equivalent).
Desired
- Fellowship or advanced training in Andrology, Male Infertility, or Reproductive Urology.
- Additional qualifications or training in Men’s Health, Longevity Medicine, Sexual Medicine, or Hormonal Optimization.
- Masters in Urology or Advanced Diploma
Licenses, Registrations & Certification Requirements
- Valid Department of Health (DOH) Abu Dhabi license to practice in Urology and/or Reproductive Medicine.
- Membership or fellowship of a recognized urological or andrological professional body (e.g., EAU, AUA, ESAU) is advantageous.
- Professional Experience Required (Relevant to the Job):
- Minimum 15 years of clinical experience in urology with a significant component in andrology and male fertility.
- Proven track record in male infertility management and surgical sperm retrieval within an IVF or reproductive medicine setting.
- Demonstrated experience in or strong interest in men’s health program development, hormonal medicine, or longevity medicine.
- Solid knowledge of reproductive endocrinology and the multidisciplinary management of infertile couples.
- Experience in clinical program design, pathway development, or health institute establishment is highly desirable.
- Adequate knowledge of UAE medical licensing requirements, medico-legal frameworks, and ethical standards of medical practice.
- Awareness of medical malpractice policies and patient safety practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and patient-counselling skills; compassionate and empathetic in approach.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and decision-making capabilities with sound logical reasoning.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage competing priorities, and lead in a multicultural environment.
- Excellent written and spoken English; fluency in Arabic is a strong advantage.
- Proficient in MS Office and clinical information systems.
