- Participate in out of hours on call coverage

Requirements
- Tier 1: NLT 2 years relevant experience as a consultant or equivalent post board certification
- Tier 2: NLT 8 years full time employment as a Consultant or equivalent post board certification (includes years in fellowship training) in internationally accredited institute
- For UAE Nationals: Clinical Fellowship training following primary specialty board may substitute for experience

Job Overview
- The Consultant Physician is responsible for leading and supervising the delivery of high quality evidence based care.
- Effectively and efficiently diagnosing, managing and treating all patients placed under the post holder's care.
- Expected to be an example of clinical excellence and provide leadership and training for junior medical staff.
Qualification
- Tier 1: NLT 2 years relevant experience as a consultant or equivalent post board certification.
- Tier 2: NLT 8 years full time employment as a Consultant or equivalent post board certification (includes years in fellowship training) in internationally accredited institute.
- For UAE Nationals: Clinical Fellowship training following primary specialty board may substitute for experience.
Technical Responsibilities
- Diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice.
- Oversees the clinical activities of the junior medical staff.
- Complies with all established hospital policies.
- Practices appropriate utilization of the organization's resources.
- Leads ward round; reassesses both inpatients and outpatients on a regular basis.
- Accurately documents all relevant clinical information.
- Regularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as required.
- Liaises with other medical specialties and support services.
- Actively participates in multi disciplinary meetings.
- Ensures preparation of patients for all procedures including obtaining informed consent.
- Accepts clinically appropriate referrals.
- Participates in and ensures the provision of out of hours (on call) coverage on a rotational basis.
Managerial/Administration
- Supports, implements, and follows all hospital, departmental and divisional initiatives, policies and procedures.
- Helps lead and implement the organization's performance management system.
- Participates in the organization's performance management system.
- Assists with scheduling and supports the Division Chief.
- Attends Divisional meetings as required.
- Assists the Division Chief in the recruitment of new medical staff when appropriate.
- Assumes other administrative or clinical duties as requested by the Division Chief.
Quality & Safety
- Helps lead quality improvement within the Department.
- Supports a culture of regular audit and encourages the use of audit results for improving clinical practice.
- Supports the reporting, investigation, and response to untoward incidents.
Education
- Fosters a culture of learning, development and continuous improvement across the Department.
- Promotes and assists in the instruction, guidance and supervision of junior medical staff.
- Facilitates the provision of essential training relevant to clinical staff in the specialty.
- Shows commitment to Continued Medical Education (CME).
- Promotes and participates in clinical research and publication.
- Keeps abreast of the current, relevant literature and the latest trends and technologies in the industry.
