Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage neuro ophthalmic disorders affecting optic nerve, visual pathways, ocular motility, and neurological vision
- Evaluate and treat conditions including optic neuritis, papilledema, diplopia, visual field defects, ischemic optic neuropathy, cranial nerve palsies, myasthenia gravis, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, and neuro ophthalmic emergencies
- Perform comprehensive neuro ophthalmic examinations and interpret diagnostic tests (OCT, visual field, fundus imaging, fluorescein angiography, electrophysiology)
- Interpret and correlate neuroimaging findings (MRI, CT) with ophthalmic and neurological conditions
- Provide specialized care for adult and pediatric patients with neuro ophthalmic disorders
- Collaborate with neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, endocrinologists, pediatricians, and rehabilitation specialists
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in accordance with DOH regulations
- Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, fellows, and allied healthcare professionals
Requirements
- Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution
- Completion of a recognized Residency in Ophthalmology
- Fellowship in Neuro Ophthalmology from a recognized institution
- Dual Fellowship or subspecialty training in Pediatric Ophthalmology highly preferred
- Minimum 5 years of Consultant level experience in Neuro Ophthalmology
- DOH License, DOH Eligibility Letter, or eligibility for Consultant licensure in UAE
- Tier 1 qualification (American Board, UK CCT, Canadian Fellowship, etc.)

Job Summary
- Seeking a Consultant Neuro Ophthalmologist for a tertiary care hospital in Abu Dhabi. Dual fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology preferred. Role involves diagnosing and managing complex visual disorders related to neurological diseases in adult and pediatric patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage neuro ophthalmic disorders affecting optic nerve, visual pathways, ocular motility, and neurological vision
- Evaluate and treat conditions including optic neuritis, papilledema, diplopia, visual field defects, ischemic optic neuropathy, cranial nerve palsies, myasthenia gravis, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, and neuro ophthalmic emergencies
- Perform comprehensive neuro ophthalmic examinations and interpret diagnostic tests (OCT, visual field, fundus imaging, fluorescein angiography, electrophysiology)

- Provide pre and post operative ophthalmic assessment for patients undergoing neurological/neurosurgical procedures
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, and long term management
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in accordance with DOH regulations and hospital policies
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical audits, quality improvement, research, and CME
- Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, fellows, and allied healthcare professionals
- Ensure compliance with patient safety standards, infection control, ethical practice, and evidence based guidelines
Qualifications
- Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from recognized institution
- Completion of recognized Residency in Ophthalmology
- Fellowship in Neuro Ophthalmology from recognized institution
- Dual Fellowship or subspecialty training in Pediatric Ophthalmology highly preferred
- Tier 1 qualification: American Board, UK CCT, Canadian Fellowship, Australian/New Zealand Fellowship, or equivalent
- DOH License, DOH Eligibility Letter, or eligibility for Consultant licensure in UAE
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of Consultant level experience in Neuro Ophthalmology
- Extensive experience managing complex neuro ophthalmic disorders in adult and pediatric populations
- Previous experience in tertiary care hospital or academic medical center highly preferred
