- Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions affecting elderly patients
- Conduct Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments (CGA), including medical, functional, cognitive, psychological, and social evaluations
- Develop individualized care plans addressing complex health needs and multiple comorbidities
- Manage conditions commonly seen in older adults, including dementia, delirium, falls, frailty, osteoporosis, polypharmacy, incontinence, and mobility disorders
- Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams
- Provide consultation services for hospitalized patients and support transitions of care
- Contribute to the development and expansion of geriatric medicine services
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical governance programs
- Provide teaching, mentorship, and supervision to healthcare professionals
- Participate in clinical research, audits, and evidence based practice initiatives
Requirements
- Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution
- Completion of accredited specialty training in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or related specialty, followed by Fellowship/Subspecialty training in Geriatric Medicine
- Board Certification in Geriatric Medicine recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi
- Minimum of 3 5 years post board/fellowship experience as a Consultant Geriatrician
- Eligibility for DOH Abu Dhabi Consultant licensure
- Expertise in comprehensive geriatric assessment and management of complex elderly patients
- Excellent communication, leadership, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
- Fluency in English; Arabic language proficiency is an advantage

Position Summary

Clinical Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions affecting elderly patients.
- Conduct Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments (CGA), including medical, functional, cognitive, psychological, and social evaluations.
- Develop individualized care plans addressing complex health needs and multiple comorbidities.
- Manage conditions commonly seen in older adults, including dementia, delirium, falls, frailty, osteoporosis, polypharmacy, incontinence, and mobility disorders.
- Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams, including primary care physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, psychologists, and palliative care specialists.
- Provide consultation services for hospitalized patients and support transitions of care between inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, and community settings.
- Promote preventive healthcare, healthy aging, and chronic disease management strategies.
Leadership & Service Development
- Contribute to the development and expansion of geriatric medicine services and age friendly healthcare initiatives.
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical governance programs.
- Assist in establishing clinical pathways, protocols, and best practices in geriatric care.
Education & Training
- Provide teaching, mentorship, and supervision to physicians, residents, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals.
- Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities and departmental educational programs.
- Promote awareness of geriatric medicine principles among healthcare providers and caregivers.
Research & Academic Activities
- Participate in clinical research, audits, and evidence based practice initiatives related to elderly care.
- Contribute to publications, presentations, and quality improvement projects where applicable.
- Stay updated with advancements in geriatric medicine and healthy aging practices.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
