The Construction Manager is a senior member of the Brush Power Solutions Operational Delivery Team. This role is responsible for leading and overseeing all site-based construction activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of infrastructure projects in alignment with the project scope, programme, and contractual obligations. The Construction Manager works closely with the Project Manager, Site Managers, and subcontractor teams to manage on-site performance, resource deployment, and coordination. The role ensures that all construction phases are completed to a high standard, within programme and budget, and in full compliance with CDM, internal and external safety regulations. We are looking for a hands-on construction leader who is comfortable being hands-on and actively supporting delivery with the ability to lead teams, subcontractors and work effectively alongside client site teams. Ideal candidate should be adaptable and flexible, with a willingness to work across different projects and locations throughout Scotland as business needs require. A Confident communicator, able to manage relationships with clients, site teams, contractors and internal functions. Safety-led, proactive with a practical approach to resolving site issues and driving progress. Key Responsibilities: Construction Oversight and Delivery Leads site construction activities, ensuring alignment with the approved programme and design specifications across all mobilisation and construction activities. Monitor and drive construction progress, identify blockers, and implement resolutions promptly. Coordinate the construction sequencing and resourcing to optimise efficiency and reduce downtime. Manage on-site interfaces between subcontractors, suppliers, OEMs, and the internal delivery team. Ensure readiness for energisation, inspections, and milestone handovers through proactive multiple site coordination. HSE Compliance Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSE) standards. Ensure strict Implementation of CDM requirements across all mobilisation and construction activities. Ensure regular site inspections and compliance audits are conducted. Champions a proactive safety culture and drives continuous improvement across all mobilisation and construction activities. Oversee incident reporting and support root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conformances. Project Coordination & Planning Maintain regular communication with the Project Manager on progress, risk, and resource needs across all mobilisation and construction activities. Coordinate with engineering, procurement, planning and client teams to ensure timely delivery of drawings, materials and equipment. Support the preparation, review, and implementation of all necessary site safety documentation Contractual & Commercial Support Ensure all site activities are carried out in line with contractual specifications and approved designs. Supports the project management and commercial teams in all contractual events. Support the management of on-site contract changes, delays, site instructions, and contractual variations. Ensures accurate recording of daily site works and interfaces closely with both site management and commercial teams to verify site progress for valuations and claims. What we’re looking for: Essential Relevant construction management, engineering or technical qualification, or demonstrable equivalent experience in a construction delivery role. Demonstrable construction management experience within power, utilities, infrastructure or another safety-critical construction environment. SMSTS or equivalent recognised construction management safety qualification. Appropriate CSCS/ECS card relevant to the role and site responsibilities. Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations, construction HSE requirements and quality/compliance standards. Proven experience managing site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and multiple construction work fronts. Strong understanding of construction programmes, sequencing, resource planning, progress reporting and site readiness. Written and verbal communication skills Full UK driving license. HNC, HND or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is desirable Relevant additional HSE qualification such as NEBOSH or IOSH is desirable First Aid at Work and/or Temporary Works Coordinator training is desirable Experience delivering HV substations, cable systems or other electrical infrastructure projects is desirable Experience working with DNOs/IDNOs and within regulated electricity network environments is desirable What' s in it for you?
