Position Objective
Responsible for basic food preparation in an assigned kitchen section.
Works with the senior cook and section head to support food production.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the senior cook with food production and assigned duties.
- Collect required food items from stores and the butchery.
- Prepare mise en place according to the section head's directions.
- Follow kitchen hygiene and sanitation rules.
- Attend training classes and record new recipes and cooking procedures.
- Maintain kitchen equipment in clean and good condition and support regular maintenance.
- Control waste to keep food costs within budget without compromising standards.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Health, Safety and Security
- Maintain operational hygiene according to cleaning rotas.
- Follow restaurant policies and procedures for health, hygiene, fire, and life safety.
- Familiarize yourself with emergency exits and evacuation procedures.
General Expectations
Comply with the company's corporate code of conduct.
Familiarize yourself with company values and model desired behaviours.
Perform tasks directed by management to support business goals.
Requirements
- Ability to perform basic food preparation in an assigned kitchen section.
- Ability to follow direction from the section head and cooperate with the senior cook.
- Ability to follow kitchen hygiene, sanitation, health, and fire safety procedures.
- Willingness to attend training and learn new recipes and cooking procedures.
