About the Role
- We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Commis Chef – Emirati Cuisine to join our culinary team in Abu Dhabi.
- The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in traditional Emirati cuisine and assist in the preparation of authentic dishes while maintaining the highest standards of quality, hygiene, and food safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of traditional Emirati dishes in accordance with established recipes and quality standards.
- Support senior chefs with daily mise en place and kitchen operations.
- Ensure ingredients are prepared, stored, and handled according to food safety standards.
- Maintain consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation.
- Follow kitchen recipes, portion control, and preparation methods accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
- Adhere to HACCP, food safety, and sanitation regulations at all times.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating stock using FIFO procedures.
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service during busy periods.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Commis Chef or Kitchen Assistant, preferably in Emirati, Middle Eastern, or Arabic cuisine.
- Basic knowledge of traditional Emirati ingredients, cooking techniques, and recipes is preferred.
- Passion for culinary arts and willingness to learn.
- Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced kitchen environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Culinary diploma or professional cookery certification.
- Experience in hotels, restaurants, or catering operations.
- UAE hospitality experience is an advantage.
