Role overview

Responsibilities

• Wash and peel ingredients and prepare mise en place to required quality standards.
• Set up and replenish buffets and assist with requisition collection and storage.
• Monitor ingredient levels and store ingredients in labeled containers for proper preservation.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, tools, utensils, and work areas before and after use.
• Report kitchen and stewarding-area cleanliness or maintenance issues and support daily checks.
• Follow personal hygiene, food safety, UAE Municipality, and Mandarin Oriental standards.
• Support colleagues, other outlets, and banquets when requested by superiors.
• Attend scheduled meetings and training and complete other reasonable assigned duties.

Requirements

• High school qualification or equivalent is required.
• A hospitality or culinary arts degree or Higher National Diploma is preferred.
• At least one year of Commis 1 or Commis 2 experience in a high-volume hotel or free-standing restaurant is preferred.
• Basic food preparation and cooking experience is required.
