Position summary
The Commi 1 prepares and cooks food, maintains food quality and presentation standards, and supports kitchen and guest service operations.
The role includes physical kitchen work and collaboration with chefs, food and beverage staff, supervisors, and other employees.
Food preparation duties
- Prepare special meals, substitute items, and cold foods.
- Regulate ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters and thaw frozen food in the refrigerator.
- Maintain food logs and monitor the quality and quantity of prepared food.
- Ensure proper portioning, arrangement, garnish, recipes, and presentation standards.
- Communicate assistance needs during busy periods.
- Inform the Chef about excess food for daily specials and food and beverage staff about menu specials and unavailable items.
Team and compliance duties
- Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, counseling, discipline, motivation, and employee coaching.
- Follow company, safety, and security policies and report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions.
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
- Anticipate and address guest service needs and communicate using clear, professional language.
- Maintain positive working relationships and support team goals.
Preferred qualifications
- A technical, trade, or vocational school degree is preferred.
- At least three years of related work experience is preferred.
- No supervisory experience is required.
- No license or certification is specified.
Physical requirements
- The role requires standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods.
- The role requires reaching overhead and below the knees, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- The role requires moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
