Position Summary

The Client Accountant (Junior) manages the day-to-day accounting for an assigned portfolio of straightforward external clients accounts.

Straightforward is defined here: each assigned client will typically have one legal entity, clearly recurring transaction patterns (fewer than 150 transactions per month), no Intercompany complexity, and a defined monthly reporting cycle.

Payroll and Intercompany structures are out of scope for this role.

This person takes full ownership of their portfolio, accurate books, timely payments, clean reconciliations, and professional client communication delivered consistently under the daily supervision of the Senior Accounting Officer.

They follow SOPs precisely, escalate early when something is uncertain, and take pride in work that is right the first time.

Bookkeeping & Zoho Books Ownership

Record all financial transactions for assigned client accounts accurately and on time.

Maintain complete, up-to-date ledgers.

Apply the Maker/Checker process to every entry.

Self-review before submitting — do not rely on the Senior Accountant to catch errors that should not have been made.

Payments Processing

Process client payments — supplier invoices, WPS salary runs, and disbursements — in line with the approved payment schedule and the Maker/Checker process.

Issue payment confirmations and maintain a full, traceable payment trail.

If an instruction is unclear or inconsistent, hold and escalate before processing.

Bank Reconciliation

Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations for all assigned accounts.

Identify discrepancies, investigate the cause, and resolve or escalate within two business days.

A discrepancy raised promptly is always better than one discovered late.

Client Communication

Acknowledge all client messages — WhatsApp or email — the same day they are received.

Provide substantive responses within the timeframe set by the Senior Accountant.

Communicate clearly, professionally, and warmly.

Escalate anything requiring judgment beyond your current authority.

Vat Support & Compliance Documentation

Prepare VAT schedules and supporting documentation for assigned clients, under the review of the Senior Accounting Officer.

Maintain organized, complete records at all times.

Respond to internal documentation requests within 24 hours.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification is preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Zoho Books — hands-on experience required. Candidates without Zoho experience will be assessed on a comparable platform; Zoho proficiency is expected within 30 days of joining.
  • UAE VAT — solid working knowledge: how it applies, how it is calculated, what makes a tax invoice valid.
  • UAE Corporate Tax — awareness of Federal Decree-Law No. 47 of 2022 and its implications for supported clients.
  • Advanced MS Excel — pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formula-based reconciliation.
