Role Description
The Category Management Assistant supports category planning, analysis, and coordination to improve sales performance, customer value, profitability, and category effectiveness.
The role supports market and product analysis, category information management, promotional coordination, category strategy, and operational execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with category planning, reviews, analysis, and performance monitoring.
- Collect and maintain sales, product, pricing, margin, inventory, and market data.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, presentations, and performance summaries.
- Monitor sales, profitability, inventory, product availability, and performance indicators.
- Support assortment planning, product introductions, product rationalization, pricing, merchandising, and promotions.
- Coordinate with procurement, suppliers, marketing, merchandising, inventory, sales, and operations teams.
- Maintain product, pricing, supplier, and category information across relevant systems.
- Monitor competitors, market trends, customer behavior, and category developments.
- Identify sales opportunities, underperforming products, stock risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Prepare business cases and recommendations while following commercial, operational, and governance requirements.
Qualifications
- Relevant qualification in Business, Marketing, Commerce, Retail Management, Supply Chain, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Understanding of category management, retail, merchandising, procurement, or commercial planning principles.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills for interpreting sales, product, pricing, and market data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data analysis, pivot tables, and reporting.
- Familiarity with ERP, retail, product information, business intelligence, or category management systems.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to prepare clear reports, presentations, and data-driven recommendations.
