*** DO NOT APPLY ONLINE*** TRANSFER OPPORTUNITY CARPENTER RESTRICTED TO PERMANENT EMPLOYEES OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES WHO HAVE PASSED THEIR INITIAL PROBATION PERIOD AND CURRENTLY HOLD THE TITLE OF CARPENTER. *THIS IS NOT A CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION* The Operations Service (OPS), Maintenance & Operations Division is seeking a qualified Carpenter to work in the District 4 Section. The position involves Carpentry trade specific knowledge in maintaining and alteration of County facilities.
Engages in all types of rough and finish carpentry on buildings which include laminate work and cabinet building. Does milling, woodturning and pattern work from blueprints, drawings, sketches, specifications, or verbal instructions. Constructs scaffolding, builds forms, lays floors, and erects framing. Assembles, installs, and repairs office and institutional furnishings. Makes and fits doors, window sashes and screens. Maintains tools and equipment in good working condition. Maintains records of work performed and prepares reports as required. Responds to after hour call outs. May supervise apprentices or helpers. Drives automotive equipment to work and from sites that may include combination truck units with trailers of 6,000 pounds gross vehicle weight or over.
