Create, direct and lead the development and execution of the Peripheral Interventions marketing and sales strategies for the UK & Ireland. The Business Unit Manager is accountable for overall sales and business performance, including P&L management, market development, customer strategy and people leadership across the PI portfolio. The role establishes and sustains market leadership by selecting the appropriate commercial and GTM models, leading strategic planning through market opportunity assessment and customer segmentation and translating strategy into disciplined execution through the leadership and coaching of sales, marketing and clinical teams.
The role operates in alignment with Northern Cluster, EMEA and global divisional strategies, ensuring effective product positioning, market penetration, training, forecasting and portfolio execution. It uses market intelligence, customer insight and financial analysis to broaden Boston Scientific market share, improve customer outcomes and deliver sustainable and profitable growth, while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, quality, compliance and ethical conduct.
Your responsibilities will include:
Strategy & Market Leadership: Develop and lead the UKI PI strategic plan, annual operating plan and commercial priorities based on market opportunity assessment, customer segmentation, therapy and portfolio opportunities, competitive dynamics and evolving customer needs. Translate the strategy into clear objectives, accountabilities and measures of success.
Business Management & Sales Execution: Own business performance across the PI portfolio. Conduct regular business and sales reviews with the Business Unit Director and leadership team, monitor performance, identify forecast gaps and implement timely corrective actions. Ensure effective territory management, account targeting and execution across franchises and therapy areas.
P&L, Forecasting & Resource Allocation: Manage the division P&L within UKI, including revenue, margin, operating expenses and investment priorities. Prepare forecasts, assess market potential and ensure resources are allocated to the highest-value opportunities. Balance growth, profitability and long-term market development.
Portfolio & Therapy Development: Lead adoption and sustainable growth across the PI franchises. Prioritise core portfolio protection, new product launches, new indications and market development opportunities in partnership with EMEA and cross-functional teams from PI division and inside the wider BSCI environment.
Industry, Competitor & Customer Insight: Maintain current knowledge of market trends, clinical practice, customer priorities, competitor products and commercial tactics. Build mechanisms for the team to gather and act on market intelligence, and ensure insights are shared with Marketing and relevant stakeholders.
Marketing & Commercial Integration: Partner with Marketing to develop segmentation, positioning, campaigns, launch plans, education initiatives and promotional programmes that support the sales strategy. Ensure commercial priorities and field needs are reflected in marketing plans and investments.
Customer, KOL & External Stakeholder Leadership: Build and maintain senior relationships with major accounts, key opinion leaders, economic buyers, procurement stakeholders and relevant external organisations. Use these relationships to identify unmet needs, shape markets, strengthen partnerships and support profitable business development.
Commercial Excellence & Value Solutions: Work with Key Account Management, Commercial Contracting, HS&P, HEMA, Finance and other partners on tenders, frameworks, contract negotiations, pricing, portfolio agreements, innovative solutions and value-based propositions. Establish negotiation parameters that protect both customer value and business sustainability.
Clinical & Technical Excellence: Maintain sufficient knowledge of the PI portfolio, procedures, evidence and competitive differentiators to engage credibly with customers and coach the organisation. Ensure the team has appropriate clinical, product and selling capability to execute safely and effectively.
People Leadership & Talent Development: Lead, engage and develop a diverse team of sales, marketing, clinical and/or people managers. Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback and coaching, address performance issues, build succession plans, and create development opportunities that prepare talent for broader roles.
Field Leadership: Maintain strong field presence to understand customers, market realities and team needs. Coach leaders and commercial teams delegating without taking over the selling process, modelling disciplined selling, strategic account management and effective stakeholder engagement.
Cross-Functional & Matrix Leadership: Build strong working relationships across the Northern Cluster, EMEA and global organisation, including Marketing, Medical Affairs, HEMA, HS&P, Finance, Sales Operations, HR, Regulatory, Quality and Supply Chain. Influence without direct authority and align stakeholders around shared priorities.
CRM & Operating Discipline: Ensure country adoption and effective use of company commercial systems, including Sales Cloud, as tools for customer information, activity management, opportunity visibility, forecasting and alignment across commercial roles.
Quality, Compliance & Patient Safety: Champion patient safety, product quality and full compliance with the BSC Quality System, Code of Conduct and applicable regulatory and local requirements. Ensure appropriate resources, processes and leadership attention are in place to maintain compliance and quality awareness.
What are we looking for in you:
7+ years of relevant commercial experience, including significant experience leading diverse teams. Experience in marketing and cross functional teams, leading & coaching sales managers is strongly preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, science, business or a related discipline. Advanced business education is an advantage.
Fluent English. Ability to operate effectively across the UK & Ireland and in an international matrix environment.
Strong business acumen and a track record of building and executing successful growth strategies in a demanding market, preferably within medical devices or healthcare.
Proven record of building high-performing teams, developing individuals and managers, creating engagement, managing performance and establishing succession depth.
Demonstrated capability in strategic planning, forecasting, P&L management, pricing, negotiation, customer segmentation, key account development and commercial execution.
Proven ability to influence senior internal stakeholders, key opinion leaders, economic buyers, external agencies, procurement bodies and industry organisations.
