Black & McDonald is seeking a collaborative BMS / HVAC Controls Technician to support a growing automation team.
The technician reports to the Automation Manager and works on equipment and devices in buildings and other structures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, program, assemble, install, test, troubleshoot, and repair automation controllers, wiring, fixtures, and control devices.
- Develop automation programming and graphics and perform commissioning for new construction projects.
- Service existing clients and support the HVAC service team with control installations.
- Maintain, install, replace, and repair low-voltage electrical components, wiring, transformers, and I/O devices.
- Troubleshoot hardware and sensors and perform minor repairs.
- Shut down, lock out, and start up automation systems and building equipment.
- Provide on-site estimating and recommendations for automation solutions.
- Travel to various sites, including out-of-town locations, and work occasional overtime.
Education and Experience
- An electrical, electrical/mechanical, or instrumentation engineering certificate is recommended.
- N4 certification is required.
- At least 3 years of HVAC automation experience in the institutional, commercial, and industrial sector is required.
