Job Purpose
Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines and related mechanical systems so vehicles and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.
The position is in the Service or Workshop department and reports to the Workshop Manager or Service Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect diesel engines and diagnose faults using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Check engine components, fuel systems, cooling systems, and lubrication systems.
- Perform servicing, repairs, overhauling, component replacement, oil changes, filter replacement, and belt replacement.
- Repair fuel injection systems, pumps, injectors, and related components.
- Troubleshoot abnormal noise, smoke, overheating, starting problems, and low engine performance.
- Follow manufacturer-recommended procedures, verify vehicles after repair, and conduct final inspections and test runs.
- Use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and workshop equipment safely.
- Maintain workshop cleanliness, safety standards, tools, spare parts, and accurate service records.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Good knowledge of diesel engines, mechanical systems, fuel injection systems, and cooling systems.
- Engine troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, including the ability to use mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment.
