About the Role
Electrical Industries Company seeks an experienced Automation & Control Engineer specializing in Substation Automation Systems (SAS) for their Dammam location.

Responsibilities
- Review input data from sales for projects and highlight conflicts
- Prepare base design and detailed design documents for Substation Automation System
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders during document submission and design flow process till FAT & SAT
- Procure SAS components, negotiate with suppliers, and coordinate with customers/end users for timely updates
- Configure SCADA HMI software (Copa data Zenon) and other SAS components like Ethernet Switches, Station Computers, Gateways, Firewalls, NTP servers
- Lead technical activities related to Substation Automation System
- Conduct FAT & SAT with customers/end user including complete system testing until handover
- Ensure proper handover of as built drawings/documents and SCADA HMI software database backup
- Prepare SAS prequalification documents and address National Grid comments
- Design prototype for National Grid Substation Automation System
Requirements
- Minimum 3 5 years of direct work experience in Substation Automation System (SAS) Design and Engineering
- Thorough knowledge of SAS protocols like IEC 61850 MMS/GOOSE, IEC 60870 5 01/104, DNP3
- Hands on experience with redundancy protocols (RSTP, PRP, HSR) and time protocols (SNTP, PTP)
- Experience in configuration of SCADA HMI software (Copa data Zenon) and SAS components
- Knowledge of National Grid Substation Automation Standards (TES P 107.04, etc.)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Projects)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Team player with capability to handle situations

Detailed Job Responsibilities
- Review input data received from sales for a project and highlight conflicts, if any.
- Prepare base design & detailed design documents for Substation Automation & System.
- Coordination with various stakeholders (internal & external) during the document's submission and design flow process till FAT & SAT.
- Follow up with customers/end user in getting approval of documents.
- Procurement of SAS components, negotiations with suppliers and coordination with customers / end users for timely updates.
- Configuration of SCADA HMI software, (Copa data Zenon) and other major SAS components like Ethernet Switches, Station Computers, Gateways, Firewalls, NTP servers, etc.
- Thorough knowledge of SAS protocols like IEC 61850 MMS/GOOSE, IEC 60870 5 01/104, DNP3, etc.
- Thorough knowledge and hands on experience on redundancy protocols like RSTP, PRP, HSR, time protocols like SNTP, PTP, etc.
- Lead the technical activities related to Substation Automation System (including Zenon SCADA / BCU / Cybersecurity / Gateways/ IEDs and other SAS components.
- Conducting FAT & SAT with customers / End user including complete system testing until handover.
- Ensure proper handover of all factories as built drawings / documents and SCADA HMI software database backup related to a project.
- Understanding / knowledge of OT Cybersecurity related to Automation Systems including AD, WSUS, Anti virus, NMS, Backup, etc.
Skills and Experience
- Direct work experience of minimum 3 5 years in the field related to Substation Automation System (SAS) Design and Engineering.
- Power System Automation & Control, covering Protection & Control Configuration of IEDs, BCUs, etc.
- Design of SCADA HMI including SLDs, Alarms, & Events, SOEs, Network Mapping, Trends and reports, communication configuration and interfacing of network devices.
- Coordination with customers to conduct successful FAT, SAT and complete handover.
- Complete responsibility for handling overall project documentation.
- Technical knowledge related to Power System Protection, Automation & Controls including various communication protocols (Modbus, DNP, IEC 61850, IEC 60870 5 101/104, etc.).
- Proficient in major SAS device configuration.
- Conversant with all Microsoft tools like Word, Excel, Projects, etc.
- Presentation and excellent communication skills, team player with capability to handle situations.
Preferred Certifications
- Certified professional courses like SCADA, HMI, Zenon, and others, CCNA, CPIN, ISA 62443, CISSP, etc. in applications software, Database / Network administration, installation configuration of LAN/WAN.
