The Data Solutions team delivers trusted data for global investment and business operations through technology and business collaboration.

Position summary

The Associate in Product Engineering is a senior individual contributor building the next-generation technology platform for Oaktree’s credit business.

The role is hands-on, full-stack, data-intensive, product-focused, and based on an evolving Azure platform.

The engineer works directly with business stakeholders, owns delivery end to end, and applies generative AI to improve engineering efficiency.

Key responsibilities

  • Own and deliver data pipelines, backend services, and user-facing platform components.
  • Design scalable data systems for ingestion, transformation, analytics, and APIs.
  • Modernize architecture and technology while making sound technical design decisions.
  • Collaborate with investment teams and business stakeholders to translate workflows into solutions.
  • Define scope, prioritize work, and iterate as the product owner for the assigned domain.
  • Operate independently across time zones and communicate progress, decisions, and risks.
  • Mentor engineers through reviews and design discussions, and implement CI/CD, testing, observability, and feature management.
  • Use metrics, telemetry, and experimentation to guide decisions and communicate technical trade-offs.

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of software engineering experience with business-critical distributed production systems.
  • Experience as a Senior, Staff, or Principal Engineer delivering enterprise, cloud-native, or financial technology platforms.
  • Expertise in C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework, REST APIs, gRPC, and backend development.
  • Strong full-stack experience with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern UI frameworks.
  • Experience with data-intensive applications, event-driven architecture, ETL or data pipelines, and real-time processing.
  • Experience with microservices, API-first architecture, domain-driven design, and messaging platforms.
  • Strong Azure, containerization, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, database, testing, observability, security, and DevSecOps experience.
  • Ability to work independently, drive technical strategy, communicate effectively, mentor engineers, and connect solutions to business value.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • An advanced degree or equivalent product-focused engineering leadership experience is preferred.

Work mode

  • Hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office and two days available for work from home.

Shift

  • The shift is 1 PM to 10 PM or 2 PM to 11 PM.
