General Description
The Assistant Resident Civil Engineer (ARE Civil) supports the Resident Civil Engineer in the on-site supervision and technical monitoring of civil and structural works executed by the EPC Contractor.
Based on site, the ARE Civil assists in verifying that civil construction activities are carried out in accordance with project specifications, approved drawings, applicable international standards, and local regulations.
The role contributes to maintaining construction quality, safety, and proper documentation throughout the execution of the works.
The position is primarily support-oriented and operates under the guidance and direction of the Resident Civil Engineer.
Site Supervision And Technical Support
- Assist the Resident Civil Engineer in supervising civil and structural construction activities performed by the EPC Contractor.
- Support on-site inspections of works including earthworks, excavations, foundations, concrete works, steel structures, buildings, roads, drainage, and underground utilities.
- Help verify that works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, method statements, specifications, and site procedures.
Quality Monitoring
- Assist in monitoring quality control activities related to civil works.
- Support identification and tracking of non-conformities, construction defects, or deviations under the supervision of the Resident Civil Engineer.
- Participate in inspections related to formwork, reinforcement placement, concrete pouring, curing, and structural erection.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)
- Assist in monitoring HSE compliance related to civil works on site.
- Support safety observations, toolbox talks, and reporting of unsafe conditions or near-miss events.
- Promote safe working practices in accordance with site safety rules and approved risk assessments.
Technical Review And Coordination Support
- Assist in the review of basic civil-related EPC submissions such as shop drawings, method statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and material documentation.
- Support coordination between civil works and other disciplines (electrical, mechanical, systems) as directed by the Resident Civil Engineer.
- Attend site coordination meetings when required and follow up on assigned civil action items.
Material Inspection And Work Monitoring
- Support verification of construction materials delivered on site, including checking quantities, visible condition, and conformity with approved documentation.
- Assist in monitoring workmanship quality and readiness for inspections and work acceptance stages.
Reporting And Site Records
- Assist in maintaining site records related to civil works, including daily site logs, inspection checklists, NCR registers, punch lists, and progress records.
- Contribute to the preparation of daily and weekly site reports by providing accurate civil work observations and data.
Working Conditions
- Full-time, site-based position.
- Occasional travel to other project-related locations may be required.
- Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends depending on site activities.
- Strict compliance with site access, safety, and security requirements is mandatory.
Required Qualifications And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Initial to intermediate experience (typically 1–5 years) in civil construction, site supervision, or engineering support roles.
- Basic knowledge of civil construction activities such as concrete works, earthworks, and structural works.
- Familiarity with international standards and construction practices is an advantage.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
- Willingness to work in a site-based construction environment.
- Needs to have 400 KV experience in either cable or substation.
- Valid UAE driving licence
- Preferable in UAE
