Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach journalism and digital media courses in Arabic.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and keep pace with the evolving trends in the job market for journalism and digital media.
  • Supervise graduation projects in journalism and digital media.
  • Utilize their professional experience and network to guide students toward successful internships and jobs in the field of journalism and digital media.
  • Participate in committees at the department, college, and university levels.
  • Any other responsibilities assigned by the head of the department.

Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. or Master’s degree from a highly reputable international university, combined with outstanding practical professional experience of at least 10 years in reputable media institutions.
  • Ability to teach in Arabic.
  • Proven record of previous practical professional experience and/or scholarly/creative activities in journalism and digital media.
  • Proven record of professional development in applied skills relevant to the field of journalism, including high quality workshops and training courses.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in both Arabic and English).
  • Familiarity with educational technology and the ability to adopt modern teaching methods that align with Qatar University's excellence themes.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively and within teams.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with previous teaching experience in higher education institutions.

Additional Information

  • In addition to professional experience and/or academic/creative activities in the field of specialization, the candidate is expected to teach effectively undergraduate students, engage in research and creative activities and participate in community service and outreach.
  • The department seeks a candidate whose teaching style resonates with a diverse student body from various backgrounds.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the ability to participate in the department's interdisciplinary teaching, research, and creative activities.
  • Besides teaching their specialization, the successful candidate is expected to be able to teach general mass communication courses.

  • An up to date Curriculum Vitae (CV) including years of experience after the Master’s or Ph.D. degree, major and specific specialization.
  • Cover letter.
  • A portfolio of professional experience, including examples of relevant professional achievements.
  • Teaching philosophy and service philosophy.
  • Contact information for three references (physical addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers).
  • A copy of the Master’s (and Ph.D. degree if applicable) and a copy of the detailed transcript for the Master’s and Ph.D. degree (if applicable) if you graduated from an institution where the degree was completed by coursework.
  • Any additional documents you feel are relevant to your application.
