Role Overview

Candidate Profile

• Thorough knowledge of highway modelling, public transport systems, variable demand modelling, and traffic assignment techniques is required.
• The role requires 10–14 years of experience with modelling software and at least 3 years of hands-on PTV VISUM experience.
• Experience developing and managing highway and public transport models from first principles is required.
• Experience with National Highways and NTA Regional Models, including calibration, validation, zoning, and network enhancements, is required.
• Understanding of transport appraisal, economic assessment, accident analysis, and environmental assessment inputs is required.
• Experience in survey data analysis and strong analytical, problem-solving, and quality assurance capabilities are required.
• Strong report writing, project management, supervisory, communication, technical, leadership, and stakeholder management skills are expected.
• Understanding of applicable UK and Ireland standards and guidelines, including DfT, UK TAG, TAF, and TII PAG, is expected.
• A strategic and proactive approach to improving modelling processes and outcomes is expected.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead strategic multimodal modelling projects covering highway and public transport models.
• Manage surveys, model development, calibration, validation, demand matrix development, forecasting, and economic appraisal.
• Manage Variable Demand Modelling processes and ensure model robustness and compliance with relevant guidance.
• Analyse complex datasets using Python, Power BI, VB, and other analytical tools.
• Check outputs for quality requirements and industry best practice and motivate others to do so.
• Integrate modelling outputs with ArcGIS, MapInfo, and QGIS for spatial analysis, mapping, and visual communication.
• Provide modelling support for Traffic Impact Assessments and transport infrastructure design and appraisal.
