Role Summary
The Assistant Pastry Chef prepares consistent, quality pastries for all areas and supports guest and employee satisfaction.
The role helps maintain sanitation, food safety, culinary, presentation, and service standards.
Education and Experience
- Option one is a high school diploma or GED with three years of experience in culinary, food and beverage, or a related professional area.
- Option two is a two-year degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related major with one year of relevant experience.
Pastry Team Operations
- Manage day-to-day operations and understand employee positions well enough to perform duties in their absence.
- Coordinate cooks and workers engaged in food preparation.
- Assist in supervising pastry preparation shift operations.
- Prepare food items and execute requests according to required specifications.
- Use communication and interpersonal skills to lead, influence, and encourage team members.
Culinary Standards
- Develop, design, or create new pastry kitchen ideas and items.
- Follow proper food handling, temperature, and storage standards.
