Position Summary

  • NYU Abu Dhabi seeks an Assistant Manager, Social Science Research reporting to Associate Dean of Administration and Planning, Social Science.
  • Provides assistance in management of divisions research structure and communications.

Research & Communications Management

  • Supervises research operations with faculty, researchers and labs and the hiring and admin training of researchers
  • Supervises 3x administrative staff to ensure deadlines are met and work is accurate
  • Manages and oversees input from full divisional team for all research programming scheduling and communications trackers
  • Act as a point person for all Social Science faculty, Program Head, Student Rep, Lab Directors and Centre PI’s
  • Manages reporting and analysis for all websites and external publishing sites
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive internal communications strategy
  • Manages requests and oversees complex escalations with Procurement, IT, Public Affairs, Web Team and Student Affairs
  • Serves as liaison to all affiliated vendors to negotiate costs and supervise scheduling
  • Training and troubleshooting for Faculty, Post Docs and Students regarding procurement and brand guidelines
  • Processing of suppliers, contracts and invoices
  • Act as the divisional expert on policies and procedures
  • Oversight of monthly Tamkeen report and annual faculty activity report

Research Conferences

  • Manage the conference process for all labs, programs and interdisciplinary post doc program
  • Manage conference budget and tracking, and liaise between NY and Abu Dhabi

Divisional General Management (Back up)

  • Act as delegate to the Assistant Dean occasionally
  • Work directly with the Dean on all approvals, faculty affairs and staff supervision
  • Attend Exec Comm Meetings and prepare presentations
  • Prepares materials and reports for distribution
  • Maintains documentation of all information from faculty meetings
  • Oversight of the admin team supporting the Dean
  • Oversight for on boarding/off boarding for the division, space, faculty and staff recruitment

Required Education

  • Bachelors Degree in a related field, or a relevant advanced certification

Required Experience

  • 5+ years in a comparable position
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact professionally at all levels
  • Superb organizational skills
  • Professional maturity and judgment
  • Skilled in dealing with people, using tact, diplomacy and intercultural sensitivity
  • Advanced web design and business English writing skills
  • Microsoft office, excellent communication, organizational and management skills
  • Project Management, expedition and analysis skills
  • Knowledge of university shared governance

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor's Degree with a strong Business Administration background; advanced degree welcome
  • Management certification welcome

  • Fluent in Arabic language
  • Excellent finance, administrative & communication skills
