Job description:
To support the management of product costing, inventory valuation, production and maintenance order costing, budgeting and month-end closing activities. The role ensures the accuracy of standard and actual costs, investigates manufacturing and inventory variances, supports effective cost control and provides reliable financial information for operational and management decision-making.
The position also works closely with Production, Maintenance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Quality, Information Technology and Finance teams to ensure that manufacturing transactions are accurately recorded, allocated, analysed and reported.
Key Accountabilities
Manage product, production, process, maintenance, subcontracting, and inventory costing activities to ensure accurate cost allocation and reporting.
Review purchase orders, material costs, landed costs, inventory movements, and budget consumption; investigate significant pricing and quantity variances.
Monitor production orders, material usage, labor, yield, waste, scrap, rework, and overhead costs; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
Review maintenance and subcontracting costs, material consumption, stock balances, and order settlements to ensure accurate accounting and timely closure.
Oversee inventory valuation, provisions, physical counts, stock transfers, slow-moving/obsolete inventory, and inventory reconciliations.
Coordinate standard costing cycles, including BOMs, routings, production versions, costing runs, cost roll-ups, and standard cost updates in SAP.
Lead costing activities during month-end close, including cost allocations, activity rates, order settlement, variance analysis, journal entries, and reconciliation of costing, inventory, and GL balances.
Support annual budgeting, forecasting, cost baselines, expenditure monitoring, and analysis of budget-to-actual variances.
Prepare new product cost estimates and provide cost analysis to support pricing, profitability, make-or-buy, and investment decisions.
Develop costing reports, dashboards, and management analyses; ensure data accuracy and support SAP and finance-system improvements.
Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, procedures, and approval requirements.
Identify cost-reduction and process-improvement opportunities and provide financial insights to Production, Procurement, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and other business functions.
Provide technical guidance, coaching, and work review for Costing team members and ensure timely completion of assigned activities.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Cost Accounting or a related discipline.
Professional certification such as CMA, CPA, ACCA, SOCPA or an equivalent accounting qualification.
Training or certification in SAP Controlling, Material Management or Production Planning.
Relevant experience in cost accounting, manufacturing accounting, inventory control or financial analysis.
