Assistant Manager - Costing

Role Purpose

Key Responsibilities

• Lead detailed product and operational costing analysis including material, conversion, and overhead costs.
• Conduct costing assessments to validate cost accuracy and identify improvement opportunities.
• Analyze purchase price variances (PPV), raw material cost movement, and supplier pricing trends.
• Perform consumption, yield, and efficiency analysis against standards.
• Support margin analysis and cost actualisation / revaluation exercises.
• Support preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts for manufacturing and operational functions.
• Build and maintain advanced Excel-based financial models, assumptions, and scenario analyses.
• Track actual vs budget/forecast performance and provide clear variance analysis and business commentary.
• Prepare monthly management reports with focus on gross margin, cost drivers, and operational performance.
• Develop Excel dashboards and analytical tools to support decision-making.
• Act as a finance business partner to operations, procurement, and supply chain teams.
• Support process improvements and automation initiatives in costing, budgeting, and reporting.

Required Skills & Experience

• Very strong Excel modelling skills (advanced formulas, pivots, scenario modelling; Power Query, Power BI is an advantage).
• Strong understanding of manufacturing costing principles (standard vs actual costing, PPV, consumption analysis).
• Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
• Experience gained through Big4 (Audit, Advisory) and/or corporate FP&A or costing roles.
• Experience in a multinational manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
• Strong analytical, structured, and detail-oriented mindset.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
• Typically 5–8 years of relevant professional experience.
