The Assistant Director of Event is responsible for hotel catering and group sales from booking events through execution.
The role reports to the Director of Sales and Marketing and coordinates with relevant hotel personnel.
The position is based at Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi.
Sales and Business Responsibilities
- Manage catering and group sales activities and conduct site inspections and other sales activities as required.
- Maintain client relationships before, during, and after conferences to exceed expectations and encourage repeat business.
- Prepare departmental budgets and forecasts, control costs, and achieve the banquet and catering budget.
- Prepare monthly forecasts and the annual business and marketing plan with the Director of Sales and Marketing.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Appraise Event Manager and Event Executive performance and initiate corrective measures when appropriate.
- Manage departmental staffing levels according to business volume.
- Coach, counsel, and train staff and ensure employees promote the hotel's image and business.
- Coordinate with personnel and communicate effectively with guests, clients, business partners, and staff.
Accountability and Confidentiality
- Represent Dusit's brand and values, promote Thai graciousness, and deliver an exceptional guest experience.
- Maintain confidentiality and secure storage of intellectual property, databases, hotel information, customer information, and staff information.
- Follow hotel internet and email policies and complete other duties assigned by the superior.
Job Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel Management, or a relevant discipline is required.
- At least 3 years of sales experience in a similar capacity is required.
- Experience in a five-star hotel environment is preferred.
- Excellent written and spoken English, communication, interpersonal, and professional skills are required.
- A positive attitude toward challenges and a drive to excel are required.
