Role Overview
Prepare warm, nutritious meals for residents in long-term care homes.
The role offers daytime-oriented operating hours and a collaborative culinary environment.
This posting is for an upcoming vacancy.
Responsibilities
- Prepare meals from scratch and cook in batches across multiple kitchen stations.
- Follow residents’ dietary needs, texture modifications, care plans, standardized recipes, and safe practices.
- Lead collaboratively during kitchen service and support the team as needed.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness, sanitation, equipment condition, and food safety.
- Record food temperatures to meet policy, public health, and Ministry of Health requirements.
- Contribute to special events for residents and families.
Required Qualifications
- Food Safety Awareness Course certification, renewed every five years.
- Cook trade certificate, chef training, culinary management diploma, or relevant healthcare or restaurant cooking experience.
- Vulnerable Sector Screening check completed within the past six months.
- Two-step tuberculosis screening updated within the last year.
