Main Duties And Responsibilities
- To participate in patient care for patients admitted to hospital under the Neonatal Intensive Care Department.
- He/she may also be required to cover other subspecialties in the event that Senior Resident/Staff Physician/Fellow coverage is deficient.
- To participate in on-call coverage in accordance with the rules and regulations of the department, accepting the inconveniences associated with patients' needs during on-call coverage.
- To provide consultation services to other Departments within the organization during regular work and on-call hours according to the Department's Policies and Procedures and discuss the management with Neonatology consultant or associate consultant on-duty.
- In the event that the Assistant Consultant is pursuing a subspecialty career, assignment may be made to a unit e.g. NICU or the subspecialty chosen.
- The clinical commitment in that case will be dictated by the Rules and Regulation of the unit or subspecialty.
- To perform diagnostic and/or therapeutic interventions and procedures for which he/she has been trained and has specific privileges for.
- To actively participate in the quality improvement program of the Neonatal Intensive Care Department.
- To provide close supervision of the clinical performance of subordinate and to act as a role model.
- To take full responsibilities of the Division's and hospital's administrative tasks that are assigned.
- This may include division or hospital standing and ad-hoc committees or representation of the Division on committees and/or activities outside the hospital.
- To participate in scientific research and contribute to the department's educational activities and postgraduate training programs as per the Department's Policies and Procedures.
- To regularly participate in educational activities in order to acquire new skills and knowledge and to support career advancements.
- To advocate for the health needs and well-being of children and their families.
- To adhere to all the rules and regulations of the Neonatal Intensive Care Department and the organization.
- Assistant Consultant are expected to familiarize themselves and comply with both the APPS and DPPs.
- To perform other relevant duties and charges as directed by the Chairman of Neonatal Intensive Care Department.
- To comply with all professional and ethical standards and express adherence to the Medical Staff By-Laws Of the organization.
- Perform other job related duties.
