Role Overview

  • The Armaments, Avionics & Survival Equipment Workshop Controller is responsible for ensuring all off aircraft maintenance work is performed to approved data and quality standards.
  • Reports to the Deputy Depth Maintenance Manager for organization, administration, control and efficiency of Part 145 Bay Operations.
  • Requires high level understanding of Armament & AGE trades and tactical planning to respond to changing customer and product requirements.

Core Activities

  • Leading and managing production and delivery of work packages, including technical instructions, resource and materiel requirements.
  • Providing planning and oversight for additional and emergent work during maintenance.
  • Ensuring all off aircraft maintenance work is performed to approved data and quality standards.
  • Reporting to Deputy Depth Maintenance Manager for Part 145 Bay Operations.
  • Interacting with customer and Qatari Air Force support staff.
  • Providing information, statistics and data for Operational Performance Review.
  • Undertaking direct management responsibility and performance development.
  • Ensuring maintenance activities are documented and airworthiness records maintained.
  • Reviewing and reporting on effectiveness of maintenance task performance in AGE.
  • Maintaining control and oversight of QAF consolidation including logbook progression.
  • Providing input to Continuous Improvement activities.

Qualifications/Functional Knowledge

  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship (e.g., City & Guilds 2675 or 2661) or recognized Engineering Degree in aeronautical, mechanical, electrical, electronic, or avionic engineering.
  • 2 years practical experience in aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
  • Minimum 6 months experience on type in the last two years.
  • Good understanding of relevant Acceptable Means of Compliance documentation.
  • Formal Production Planning and Control training.
  • Strong people management and motivational skills.
  • Operational and business management within aircraft maintenance environment.
  • Knowledge of managing and implementing effective safety management systems (SMS).
  • Human Factors Standard Course Specification.
  • E&PW Awareness Standard Course Specification.
  • ITAR Awareness Standard Course Specification.
  • IT Literate and UK driving licence.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure effective management of Regulatory activities by setting delivery targets and monitoring progress.
  • Comply with Regulatory Framework, associated procedures and standards.
  • Ensure maintenance activities are compliant with Governance and Assurance framework.
  • Management and application of CAA system within Airworthiness Records.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Continuing Airworthiness Regulatory Framework.
  • Comply with all applicable contractual requirements.
