Apprentice HVAC Technician Location: Perth, Western Australia Company: CMS Engineering Employment Type: Full-Time, Apprenticeship
CMS Engineering is looking for a motivated Apprentice Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Technician to join our Perth Service team.
This is an opportunity to earn while you learn, completing a nationally recognised Refrigeration and Air Conditioning apprenticeship while gaining hands-on experience across some of Perth's most recognised commercial facilities.
Joining CMS as an apprentice means learning your trade as part of an experienced local Service team, with exposure to a wide range of commercial HVAC systems and environments.
You’ll be supported throughout your apprenticeship while building the skills and experience needed for a long-term career in the industry.
You'll work alongside experienced HVAC technicians who will teach and support you throughout your apprenticeship.
You'll gain practical experience in servicing, maintaining, repairing and fault finding across a wide range of commercial air conditioning, refrigeration and mechanical building services systems.
You'll also complete your TAFE training while developing the technical skills, safety knowledge and customer service experience needed to become a qualified tradesperson.

Working alongside qualified technicians and learning the HVAC trade hands-on
Assisting with servicing, maintenance, repairs and breakdowns across commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems
Learning how to fault find, diagnose problems and carry out repairs
Gaining experience across a wide range of HVAC and mechanical building services equipment
Learning about electrical controls, refrigeration systems and Building Management Systems (BMS)
Completing digital service reports and required safety documentation
Learning and following safe work practices, SWMS and company procedures
Building confidence communicating with clients and working as part of a professional Service team
Attending TAFE and actively participating in your ongoing training and development
A genuine interest in starting a career in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
Mechanically minded with a practical, hands-on approach
Willingness to learn, listen and have a go
Reliable, punctual and able to work well as part of a team
Good communication skills and a positive attitude
Commitment to working safely and producing quality work
Completed Year 10 or above
Current driver's licence or working towards obtaining one
White Card preferred, but not essential
Previous work experience, pre-apprenticeship or exposure to a trade environment is great, but not essential
