The Analyst, Business Systems role sits at the intersection of business strategy, data engineering, analytics, and platform architecture.
The role translates business requirements into scalable, governed, and trusted Microsoft Fabric data products.
Business and requirements analysis
- Translate business needs into epics, features, user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Maintain business and data requirements, process flows, use cases, glossaries, and metric definitions.
Data architecture enablement
- Support dimensional modelling and enterprise data warehouse design.
- Define source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, business rules, lineage, and traceability.
- Assess modelling impacts on query performance and downstream reporting.
Fabric and Power BI
- Define semantic layer requirements and support Power BI report validation and user acceptance testing.
- Document KPI logic, calculation rules, data definitions, and reporting limitations.
Governance and controls
- Ensure self-service reporting follows governance, security, privacy, access, and metric consistency standards.
- Maintain business glossaries and metadata and support discoverability through Microsoft Purview.
Ideal profile
- Undergraduate degree in information systems, business, finance, computer science, or an equivalent field.
- Two to four years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse or warehouse, Data Factory, Spark notebooks, and OneLake.
- Two to four years of experience in data analysis and reporting, preferably with Power BI.
- Knowledge of AI/ML architectures, generative AI, LLMs, vector databases, and MLOps or LLMOps.
- Strong DAX, Power Query (M), SQL, data modelling, ETL, and data warehousing skills.
- Knowledge of Azure services such as Data Lake, Synapse, and Data Factory.
Assets and preferred qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Purview.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform.
- Familiarity with CI/CD for data pipelines using Azure DevOps or Git.
- Familiarity with governance and security best practices in Power BI.
- Bilingual English and French capability.
