Wesfarmers OneDigital is building a data and digital retail ecosystem underpinned by AI.
The AI Data Engineer designs and builds the data components that AI and GenAI solutions depend on.
The role works with AI Engineers and business teams to make enterprise information available to agents and applications.
The focus is on solving business problems with data platforms rather than administering those platforms.
What you'll do
- Design and build data components for AI and GenAI solutions.
- Build and maintain pipelines, transformations, and integrations with Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or comparable platforms.
- Build retrieval pipelines and work on RAG, embeddings, vector search, metadata, and context design.
- Design data models and semantic structures that reflect business information.
- Connect source systems, analytical platforms, operational systems, APIs, and AI applications.
- Implement controls for data quality, validation, lineage, provenance, security, privacy, and permissions.
- Diagnose data issues and tune workloads or retrieval patterns for performance and cost.
- Build automated testing, deployment, and monitoring for data pipelines and products.
- Work with business SMEs to understand the meaning of data in context.
