Role Overview

The AGE Mechanical Supervisor reports to the Mechanical Workshop Controller.

The role is an experienced mechanical supervision position responsible for maintenance activities in the AGE bay.

The post holder maintains airworthiness through task delegation and authorization for mechanical AGE activities.

Core Activities

  • Supervise detailed maintenance and inspection of mechanical AGE components in accordance with approved technical information.
  • Complete or oversee removals, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault rectifications, replacements, and functional or system tests.
  • Maintain personal and team task authorizations and ensure staff are competent and approved for allocated tasks.
  • Carry out AGE bay support tasks for MOE and regulatory compliance, including tooling and test-equipment control.
  • Evaluate faults, raise ad hoc work cards, maintain log books, and report progress against delivery targets.
  • Provide guidance, leadership, formal assessment, and on-the-job development to team members.
  • Supervise maintenance activities and technical instructions related to mechanical aircraft ground equipment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Set delivery targets, monitor progress, prioritize activities, and develop performance improvement programs.
  • Assess escalated issues for impact on continuing airworthiness and generate resolutions or sponsor escalation.
  • Comply with applicable regulatory, company, procedural, standards, and contractual requirements.
  • Promote human factors, error management, risk management, safety assurance, and proactive hazard management.
  • Ensure Part 145 activities are documented and airworthiness records are maintained on relevant systems.
  • Ensure activities are performed by suitably qualified, experienced, and authorized personnel.
  • Support governance, assurance audits, responses to audit findings, and implementation of corrective improvements.
  • Apply continuing-airworthiness requirements and support regulatory changes, ITAR, EaPW, and ISO compliance.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience working at supervisor level before undertaking the role.
  • Completion of an engineering apprenticeship, ideally in aeronautical engineering, or a military-equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrated leadership competence, broad and current technical experience, and practical aviation safety expertise.
  • Knowledge of Expositions, Functionally Mandated Procedures, management training, and required leadership training.
  • Human Factors, E&PW, ITAR, Fire Training Awareness, and On-the-Job Training Instructional Techniques training.
  • A UK driving licence is required because driving in-country to the place of work will be necessary.
