Westland Insurance Group is hiring an Actuarial Analyst to support pricing strategy and data-driven decision making across its in-house insurance products.
The role works with actuaries, data engineers, analysts, and business partners to develop actuarial, predictive modelling, and insurance analytics expertise.
Workplace and compensation
- This is a hybrid role based out of Westland’s Head Office in Surrey, British Columbia.
- The expected hiring range is CAD 80,000 to CAD 105,000, with a 35-hour work week.
- The role includes an annual short-term incentive program.
Candidate qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, or another quantitative field is required.
- Candidates must be actively pursuing a CAS or SOA actuarial designation.
- At least two years of experience in an actuarial, analytical, or data-focused role is required.
- Experience using SQL, Python, and/or R for analysis and modelling is required.
- Candidates should communicate complex findings clearly and demonstrate attention to detail and critical thinking.
- Actuarial exams are considered an asset.
- Experience with insurance pricing, predictive modelling, Power BI, Databricks, or P&C insurance is a bonus.
Responsibilities
- Support actuarial pricing analyses and monitor rate adequacy across Personal and Commercial Lines products.
- Partner with underwriting, operations, actuarial, and data teams to implement pricing changes and improve processes.
- Extract, transform, and analyze data for pricing decisions, portfolio insights, and business objectives.
- Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations, and identify automation opportunities.
- Contribute to predictive models supporting pricing, retention, and conversion strategies.
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
