This position supports SECURE’s Metals business segment at the Red Deer Metals Recycling Facility. The student will support the finance team in analyzing financial data, reconciling accounts, and assisting in cash management activities. The goal is to provide hands-on experience in corporate finance, while contributing meaningful insights and supporting the efficiency of team operations.

You’ll be joining a collaborative finance team that plays a critical role in ensuring accurate reporting, effective cash management, and efficient operations across the organization. The team values precision, collaboration, and adaptability while supporting a wide range of financial functions.
This is a full-time summer student position based in Red Deer, Alberta, supporting SECURE's Metals business at the Red Deer Metals Recycling Facility. Working Monday to Friday, you'll collaborate with both finance and operations teams, gaining exposure to financial processes, inventory analysis, cash management, and business decision-making in an industrial environment. The role provides valuable hands-on experience while contributing to the success of a dynamic and growing business.
Assist with cash reconciliations and follow up on any discrepancies to ensure accurate reporting.
Support the preparation of financial statements by gathering and verifying data from various departments.
Conduct inventory and vendor analysis by reviewing costs, invoicing accuracy, and helping the team with new software implementation.
Collaborate with the AP team to ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices.
Participate in ad hoc financial projects and reporting requirements, adapting to evolving needs as they arise.
Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Economics.
Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and assist in data-driven decision-making.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in data handling and report preparation.
Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Excel and experience with accounting or financial software is a plus.
Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills to work with multiple team members across the organization.
Team-Oriented: A collaborative mindset, ready to support various finance functions and adapt as priorities shift.
