Role Overview
Accountant – Logistics will join the Finance team and support accounting, reconciliation, reporting, billing, collections, merchant compensation, and financial controls across logistics operations.
Revenue and Cost Management
- Calculate logistics-related revenue and track financial performance metrics.
- Reconcile revenue against invoices and resolve discrepancies.
- Record, monitor, and manage deferred revenue under IFRS.
- Investigate fluctuations in logistics revenue, costs, volumes, and margins.
- Reconcile vendor and logistics partner invoices against AWBs, shipping rates, and operational records.
- Process COGS and direct shipping cost entries.
- Identify revenue leakage, excess vendor charges, and incorrect pricing.
- Ensure timely and accurate payments to logistics vendors and shipping partners.
Reporting and Reconciliation
- Prepare reconciliations for logistics transactions, shipping gateways, and clearing accounts.
- Generate reports on billing, collections, logistics margins, and revenue analysis.
- Maintain audit-ready financial records and fulfill auditor data requests.
- Support month-end closing, financial reporting, variance analysis, and management reporting.
Process Optimization
- Evaluate, optimize, and streamline shipping and logistics accounting workflows.
- Collaborate with Operations, Product, and Account Management teams to resolve requests, unmapped transactions, and operational bottlenecks.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- At least three years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in logistics, shipping, or e-commerce.
- Hands-on experience with revenue and cost accounting, vendor invoice reconciliation, COGS, and financial reconciliations.
- Experience supporting month-end closing, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
- Working knowledge of IFRS, including revenue recognition, accruals, and deferred revenue.
Logistics and Technical Requirements
- Understanding of AWBs, shipping rates, vendor billing, shipping transactions, and shipping margin analysis.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and hands-on experience with ERP or accounting systems.
- Professional proficiency in Arabic and English.
- Power BI, SQL, or similar data-analysis tools is a plus.
