Youth Development Casual postions (continuous post)

This role will be utilized to complete various duties on an as-needed basis.

Work may include supporting a county or a regional educator or office, may assist with camp, fair or other related programming or event coordination or related duties as assigned and will typically report to a Program Leader, or other administrator in the department.

Pay Range: $15.25-23.00 an hour.

Works 0-14 hours per week, varies depending on work available.

A specific work schedule will be determined with the supervisor.

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Must be at least 18 years old by the start date.
• Basic experience with word processing, email, and internet browsers.
• Proficient in oral and written English communication skills.
• The ability to communicate effectively with youth, parents, adult volunteers, and staff
• Good problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of risk management
• Ability to work at varying work locations, often or occasionally in the same workday

• Valid driver’s license and own means of transportation with required liability insurance. Mileage reimbursement provided in accordance with University policy.

This role coordinates 4-H programming at various site-based locations within a designated county or multi-county area under the direction of an Extension Educator.

Pay range: $15.25-$21 an hour.

Works 0-14 hours per week (may work morning, after school, weekend, evening or all depending on program schedule).

A specific work schedule will be determined with the supervisor.

• Assist Extension Educator with creating lesson plans
• Assist Extension Educator with preparing materials and implementing lessons and educational programs
• Coordinate registration and logistics for youth participants and volunteers.
• Work with Extension Educator to collect program data and participant feedback for evaluation.
• Uphold 4-H rules and regulations under the direction of the Extension Educator
• Model standards for positive conduct, including language, appearance, and behavior
• Promote the 4-H program to potential members, families, and volunteers.
• Drive program supplies to and from program sites.
• Other duties as assigned

• Education in youth development, sociology, education, volunteer systems management, communication, or related fields.

• Two years of full-time experience working with youth, coordinating volunteers, and/or planning and implementing programs/events.

This role manages 4-H accounts and budgets in collaboration with youth, staff and volunteers to ensure policy compliance.

This role will maintain precise financial records and provide regular reporting.

Pay rate: $20 an hour.

Works 0-14 hours per week (typically 2-8 hours per month), flexibility in when this work is completed (days or evenings or both); schedule will be determined with the supervisor.

• Direct the secure handling of all cash and checks according to stewardship practices, including making timely bank deposits and performing monthly account reconciliations.
• Manage bill payments via check and maintain a rigorous filing system of receipts, canceled checks, and supporting transaction documents to justify every expense.
• Utilize QuickBooks to accurately enter data, track income and expenditures, and manage overall financial records for the organization.
• Prepare and present comprehensive verbal and written financial reports for board meetings; collaborate closely with youth treasurers and adult advisors to ensure transparency.
• Complete required Minnesota sales tax worksheets and review/sign IRS forms provided by the University tax office to maintain non-profit standing.
• Ensure all volunteers follow established financial practices and compile all necessary documentation for the annual county financial review or audit.

• Valid driver’s license and own means of transportation with required liability insurance or a way to deposit money in person to local banks. Mileage reimbursement is provided in accordance with University policy.

• QuickBooks experience

• A willingness to become familiar with and work within the philosophy and guidelines of University of Minnesota Extension, the Minnesota 4-H program, and the local 4-H program
• Must complete all required training, including but not limited to Safety of Minors and Civil Rights training.
• Current UMN college undergraduate or graduate students are not eligible for this position. Non-UMN students that meet the qualifications would follow the student pay scale.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.
• Must have the ability to lift, carry, pull, and push 20 pounds.
• Must be able to stand for 90 minutes at a time or sit for 90 minutes at a time. Some days will require hours of standing or sitting.
• Must complete University of Minnesota payroll paperwork, including completing an in-person I-9 (identification verification process), and have a successful completion of a background check (with motor vehicle check if driving is required) prior to the first day of work.
• This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.
